We are so thankful to the Storm Lake and surrounding communities for the generous support of our 2nd Glow on the Green golf tournament & silent auction. Through sponsorship, team registrations, raffles and our silent auction, we were able we were able to raise just over $3,000 for the children and families that we serve.
We kicked off the evening with a turkey fillet dinner, and participants as well as spectators joined in the raffle and silent auction while we waited for the sun to go down. At just after 9PM, teams left the clubhouse to move on to assigned tee-off places, and the tournament started with a shotgun start. With a 50% increase in participation this year, we were very pleased with the turn-out. For those choosing not to golf, the view from the deck at the clubhouse was pretty spectacular.
Our event committee had fun putting the event together, and we added a few twists to the game this year by adding a few challenges like the “Tin Cup” hole, where participants were required to putt using their putter like a pool cue. Teams were also encouraged to get into the spirit of the event, and we were very excited to see several teams that had made the effort. The team voted “Most Glowing” had made t-shirts, decorated their cart and had glowing hair extensions. The event was a lot of fun, and we are very pleased with the community involvement.
Very special thanks go out to our key sponsors for this event: Sunrise Pointe Golf Club, Nick Brown Law Firm, Central Bank, MetaBank, Still, Pierce & Pertzborn, Jason Dierking, MD, Larson Oil, Tyson Foods, Inc. – Turkey Operations, Goes Insurance, Services, Inc., Sports Rehab & Professional Therapy Center and Meylor Chiropractic Clinic.
Also, thank you to the many businesses, organizations and individuals that donated to our raffle and silent auction. We couldn’t have hosted such a great event without your amazing support.
