When you host an outdoors event in the middle of July, you can expect it to be hot. Thursday, July 21st brought extreme heat warnings that may have kept some folks inside, but the overall turnout for Faith, Hope & Charity’s Taste of Storm Lake was more than we expected. With overall sales close to our yearly average, we were pleasantly surprised by the number of folks who came out for a dinner of smoked ribs, baked beans, chips, pop/water and ice cream.
While we had quite a number of meals to-go, we were pleased to see some folks take advantage of the canopy shade and the wonderful music provided by “Ball & Chain,” the husband and wife musical team of Mick Polich & MaryBeth Andrews. Considering that we had originally planned to have them perform at our Glow on the Green event and postponed due to heat, it was a bit ironic to say the least! We are truly grateful for the wonderful music!
We also owe a very big THANK YOU to the wonderful sponsors who help make this event successful each year: Hy-Vee Foods, Inc., Frito-Lay, MetaBank, Chesterman Co., Blue Bunny Ice Cream, Snyder BBQ & Charlie Larson. Helping us keep folks in the shade this year were State Farm Financial Services, Stacey Eddie ChFC and the Buena Vista County Pork Producers. Thank you all for your generous support!
