Faith, Hope & Charity was honored to be selected as a 2017 Grant Award Recipient by the Buena Vista County Community Foundation. During a breakfast banquet held Satuday, June 3rd, we were pleased to be recognized and receive our award along with eight other honorees representing Buena Vista County.

FHC's grant funding project is the installation of handicap accessible interior doors to each of the four homes within our Residential Care Facility. This project truly comes from the heart of our mission, "...improving the lives of children and young adults with special needs by promoting independence and individualtiy." By providing interior acess to our homes, this allows children using wheelchairs to gain more independence and move about their enviornment as we hope they will one day do as adults.

"We are so very grateful to the Foundation for this generous support of young people with mobility impairments in Storm Lake,," Cindy Wiemold, Executive Director commented, "The BV County Community Foundation funding is vital to this project, and will assist us in completing this project in a timely manner."

On Wednesday, May 30th, the Providence Go Getters 4-H Club and Fareway Food Stores-Storm Lake helped to brighten up our grounds here at Faith, Hope & Charity by helping our kids to plant flowers around our gazebo.  This is an annual service project for the club, and we are so grateful for all of their help and hard work.

The flowers and mulch were donated by Fareway Food Stores – Storm Lake, and the Providence Go-Getters 4-H Club, under the leadership of Leann Baumhover, helped to prepare the soil and assist with the planting.  In addition to the gazebo flower beds, the group also prepared two planters to decorate our entrance.

“We really appreciate them visiting and helping to make our place beautiful for summer!” said Sarah Babcock, Recreation Coordinator at Faith, Hope & Charity.  The children and staff here at FHC will keep the flowers watered and cared for throughout the coming months, always a favorite activity.  When you have the opportunity, we invite you to visit and take a walk on our Rainbow Path, and enjoy these beautiful and colorful flowers!

To all the members of Providence Go Getters 4-H Club, Leann Baumhover, the team at Fareway Food Stores – Storm Lake, and Brian Baumhover, we thank you all so much for brightening our day!  Thank you.!

On behalf of Faith, Hope & Charity we would like to share our sincere thanks for the donations we received as a result of the Choose Blue Storm Lake Event.  We are so very honored to be part of this amazing community, and appreciate the continued support that allows us to provide opportunities and choices to the extraordinary individuals that we proudly serve.

We are so very grateful for the support we receive!  Every dollar you donate makes a difference and allows us to continue caring for young people with special needs. It is our honor to recognize the following donors who contributed between January 1 and March 31, 2017.

On Monday, April 24th, Faith, Hope & Charity received a contribution from BVU's Glass Slipper Shop.  This student run dress shop offers formal dresses at affordable prices, (typically ranging from $10 - $40), to Storm Lake and the surrounding communities.  The shop opens for two weekends starting in late February, and all proceeds from the shop are donated to local charities.

"We are so very honored to receive this contribution," Cindy Wiemold, Executive Director said.  "Faith, Hope & Charity appreciates the time and effort that the students put into this project, and we are truly grateful they thought of our kids."
